Update April 2, 2009 from:

John Timmers - Superintendent Vanmar Constructors...

A building update for end of March, 2009. Sheet linoleum flooring has started on the top floor, which is one of our last big hurdles to jump towards finishing the building. Cabinets, light fixtures, and plumbing fixtures installation had started about a week ago, and as the sub-trades completing that work move their way down to the lower floors, with the major traffic out of the way, the flooring subcontractor started. After the flooring has been installed in the third floor suites, the painter will go back into the suites to apply the final coat of paint, after which the door hardware needs to be installed, and the other sub-trades will have to complete the final bits of their work, such as electrical cover plates, fire alarm devices, and vent grills. All of the doors have been hung, and in a couple weeks, the finish carpenter will be through the building installing all the door hardware, such as passage sets, locks, door closers, door viewers and thresholds. Sometime towards the end of this week, all the cabinetry installation will be 100% complete. That means that within two weeks, all the plumbing or venting that is installed in the cabinets will be complete. The toilets will be installed as the bathroom floor linoleum is completed. Because winter is just dragging on and on, we’re not able to do much more exterior work. Painting can only take place if the temperature stays above 5 degrees centigrade. There is little snow left on site, but the frost seems to have penetrated the ground quite deep, and we need some warm weeks, and lots of rain would be helpful too. Tentative schedule for appliance delivery is about mid May.
