Hours of Operation:
Monday to Friday Programs run from 9:00am to 12:30pm

Both programs offer transportation as needed from 8-9am - then home from 12:30 -1:30

4 year olds attend Monday, Wednesday and Friday

3 year olds attend Tuesday and Thursday

Closed weekends and statutory holidays

The Prince George Aboriginal Head Start (PGAHS) Program, hosted by the Prince George Native Friendship Centre and funded through the Public Health Agency of Canada’s AHSUNC initiative, provides a holistic early childhood program for Aboriginal children ages 3–5 in an urban setting.

Programs and services offered

Prince George Aboriginal Head Start (PGAHS)

Rooted in cultural teachings, particularly the Carrier language and respect for Lheidli T’enneh territory, the program supports children’s spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. 

Power of Friendship Aboriginal Head Start (POFAHS) provides Cree/Metis language and curriculum

Rooted in cultural teachings, particularly the Cree and Metis languages and respect for Lheidli T’enneh territory, the program supports children’s spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.

Each program fosters a safe, inclusive environment with strong community and family involvement, recognizing parents and caregivers as key advocates. A monthly Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting, along with various workshops such as Nobody’s Perfect and Food Safe, offer additional family support.
